Okuma Fest!

Good Morning Cali, Konbanwa Japan!

Last weekend we were able to attend the Okuma Fest at Okuma Beach and Resort. It is a big festival held every year at the end of April. They have local bands and performers, carnival attractions for kids, fair foods, games, etc.. And the location is beautiful! It's surrounded by ocean, beautiful trees, golf courses. You can rent out log cabins, cottages, or ground space to camp out. And it is a water sport paradise! It's one of those places you have to visit when you come to Okinawa, as long as the weather permits. This year we went with our friends Alyssa and John. They are so much fun to hang out with! We'll definitely miss them when we leave this place. So here are some pics of our time at the festival!

Fun at the Aquarium

Hi friends,

Like the new blog? I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of blogging. Being Miss Google over here, I'm surprised I hadn't figured more out sooner haha. However I don't know how to get rid of the logo on the left hand corner.. Anyone know any codes for that? I'd so appreciate it :)

Anyway, about 2 weeks ago some friends of ours invited us to the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium. It has the second largest aquarium tank in the world called the Kuroshio Sea. The tank holds 3 whale sharks, a bunch of huge manta rays, and a few other large fish. It's seriously amazing! We happened to go on a rainy day so we weren't able to watch any outdoor shows but with the baby that was fine. He was content just looking at all the fish swim. I just love watching him stare at everything in awe. And although the baby won't be able to remember these experiences on his own, I think he'll appreciate that we've captured so many memories for him. And maybe one day we'll be able to come back and visit.

Good Evening!

These past few weeks have been so long and exhausting! Dealing with my allergies and the baby getting bronchiolitis has not been fun. But we're both good now and ready to get back on track with everything. Which for me means working out again to try and lose the baby weight. (Whoever said that breastfeeding helps you lose weight is a LIAR!) And for the baby, just doing his baby thang ;) being cute, exploring the world, making a mess and what not. He's so much fun! 

So earlier today my friend invited me to go to Mihama Kid's Park in American Village, which is an indoor play place at a shopping center here in Okinawa. It was so much fun. It reminded me a lot of Discovery Zone. Anyone remember that place? It was full of slides, ball pits, obstacle courses, you name it. Unfortunately the baby probably didn't have as much fun as I did. He actually wasn't sure what to do so he was just bug-eyed the whole time haha. So hilarious. Seriously, look at these pictures! We could not stop laughing at him and his weird looks! Love this kid :D haha

Baby J is sick :(

My poor little baby is sick. He's only been sick once before and it's already my least favorite part of being a mom. I don't like seeing him so miserable. And I feel so helpless sometimes when all he can do is cry to show me he's not feeling well. He's been sick for 2 days now and if he doesn't improve by tomorrow, I'm taking him to his doctor. I'm really not sure if they can do anything but it's always nice to get a peace of mind. 

Earlier today he had a fever and wasn't feeling so well so I had to give him acetaminophen and it was just so cute to watch his little face scrunch up at the taste. I was already cuddling with him and realized I had my camera right next to me. I decided to record him a few minutes later. You can just see it in his eyes that he was not feeling well. And at this point he was just tasting what was inside his cheeks. Luckily the taste didn't linger too much longer after his medicine kicked in and he was smiling again after a few minutes. I hope he gets better soon. Both mommy and baby need some sleep ♥

The other day J and I went to buy a laptop for me, since I broke our old one and the baby was so pleasant the whole time. He seriously kept smiling and laughing at everything! It was so adorable. He even had other people smiling around us. I swear he brings so much happiness to the world. Love this little boy ♥

Baby J 4 months old

Hi everyone,

So much has happened since the last time I updated my blog. Baby J is now 4 and a half months! He has grown so much! He is about 16 pounds and is 26 1/2 inches long. He is such a big boy, I feel like everything is happening so fast and I cherish every moment I have with him. I really am blessed to be able to stay at home with him at this moment because once we move back to the states I probably won't be able to stay home with him :( But I won't get ahead of myself.

In the past 2 months, we have moved him from a bassinet in our room to his crib in his own room and he LOVES it. He sleeps so much better. He still wakes up about twice a night to eat but it is so much better than him waking up every 2 hours to eat. That was hard.

We have a bedtime routine which consists of eating, bathtime, storytime, goodnight hugs & kisses, and lying him down with either some lullabies or just his heater on (which makes a fan noise). He's pretty good at putting himself to sleep this way.

He started solids a few weeks ago and before someone jumps down my throat, we of course consulted with his pediatrician. He was ready for it too. When we tried feeding him the very first time he chomped down on that spoon! It was so cute :) And it's strictly cereal (rice or oatmeal) for now.

He discovered his feet! As you'll see in the video below he just flings them up and sticks them in his mouth haha it's so funny! And it keeps him entertained. Oh and he also fake coughs. He just does the cutest things at this age. I love watching him discover everything around him.
